SUMMARY:Open Ed Week: EDI-Focused Adaption of an Intro to Psychology Textbook - A Panel
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever thought\, “if only this open textbook included more diverse examples?” or “I wish this book was easier for my students to read.” The BCcampus Intro to Psychology open textbook EDI adaptation is trying to address these issues and more!\n \nThis project adapted one of the most highly adopted open textbooks in BC to include more:\n  \n\nIndigenous content\,\ndiverse examples\,\nunderrepresented scholars\, and\nstudent contributions.\n\nThe team comprises contributors from across 5 post-secondaries in BC\, including a group of student illustrators tasked with bringing complex ideas and examples to life through graphics.\n  \nIn this panel\, four of the team members will discuss:\n  \n\nWhat does an EDI adaptation mean or look like?\nWhat was the process of finding and incorporating marginalized voices\, including Indigenous content?\nWhat have been some of the design and content considerations?\nHow have students been engaged in the project?\nHow does one build a cross-institutional team?\nWhat lessons have been learned?
