SUMMARY:INDC-1110: Essential Skills for Training & Facilitation for JIBC Faculty & Staff
DESCRIPTION:Interested in developing your essential skills for training & facilitation? Our next offering will be held on May 26\, 27\, and 28th\, 2025. \n  \nINDC-1110: Essential Skills for Training & Facilitation provides you with the fundamentals to design\, facilitate and assess effective training. Learners will explore the principles of adult learning and brain-based methodology and how these concepts apply to their own work environment. \n  \nThis course is helpful for a variety of learners. You may be a new instructor needing some orientation to instructional skills development\, or an experienced instructor who wants a refresher\, or a staff person who is required to deliver training and presentations as part of your job. \n  \nEach day during the course\, learners will facilitate a short training session that they have developed themselves\, receive feedback from their peers and coaches\, and set new goals for their training effectiveness. By the end of this course\, learners will have measurably increased their competence and confidence in designing and facilitating effective training sessions. \n  \nPlease note\, this course has approximately 3 hours of pre-work prior to Day 1 of the course. More information will be shared with learners prior to the course with details. \n  \nThis course is available at no cost to JIBC staff and faculty. DESCRIPTION:Ready to take the next step as a leader in teaching and learning? \n  \nThe Facilitator Development Workshop (FDW) is advanced training for those who wish to become Instructional Skills Workshop (ISW) facilitators. Designed for educational leaders within divisions and program areas\, the FDW prepares participants to guide others through the ISW process and contribute meaningfully to instructional development across the institution. \n  \nBuilding on the ISW experience\, the FDW is peer-led and highly experiential. The focus shifts from participating in the model to facilitating it—developing the skills\, confidence\, and values required to lead others through transformative learning experiences. \n  \nParticipants will deepen their understanding of: \n  \n\nExperiential learning principles\nLesson design and active learning strategies\nGroup development and climate setting\nConstructive feedback practices\nFacilitation competencies that uphold the ISW model\n\n  \nServing as an entry point for many educational developers and instructional leaders\, certification as an ISW facilitator carries a commitment to stewarding the integrity\, inclusivity\, and learner-centred foundations of the program. \n  \nIf you recognize these qualities in yourself—or in a colleague with a passion for teaching and learning—consider applying or making a recommendation.
