Our team was contracted by BCcampus and the Ministry of Advanced Skills and Training to design and develop an Open Educational Resource course called Safer Campuses for Everyone training. The training is part of a growing collection of open education resources for addressing sexual violence in post-secondary institutions in B.C. MELANIE MEYERS | KRISTA LAMBERT | JUNSONG ZHANG | DENNIS YIP | HELEN LEE | STEVE O HEARN | BOB WALKER

Developed for the Ministry of Family Justice and in collaboration with the Corrections and Court Services Division, Parenting After Separation was a free course aimed to provide information to parents, guardians and other family members who are dealing with family issues because of a separation or divorce. Multiple versions of the same training were produced to fulfill the diverse needs of different families in BC. This award-winning training featured an English-based generic version that was open for all. A separate customized version was developed to support Indigenous families. Currently, a Punjabi version is in design & development stage.

SIMULATION

3D

Fire Investigation Simulation

JUNSONG ZHANG | KAVITA GEORGE | ROBERT WALKER

Our team along with the Fire & Safety Division, subject matter experts from the District of North Vancouver Fire & Rescue Services, and students from the graduate-level program at the Centre for Digital Media developed a gamified 3D environment for fire investigation trainees to identify the origin and the cause of the fire. With a first-person perspective, learners would hear a situational briefing from a virtual fire captain in the simulation, walk around the house, examine the burn site, photograph the objects, take notes, follow the protocols and eventually reach a conclusion.
