SUMMARY:Your AI Ideas\, One Note at a Time
DESCRIPTION:CTLI\, JIBC Library\, The Writing Centre\, and Student Services Hosts AI Week at the JIBC!\nWhat’s World AI Week?\nAs you know\, there is a lot going on in the world of AI. This new and growing technology is spreading like wildfire and upending many of our current educational practices\, among other major disruptions. October 6-10 is World AI Week\, led by an organization called Inspired Minds\, who have organized an international conference on AI during this week.\n \nAt JIBC\, we are planning our own events for World AI week\, and we’d like you to be part of the action! We would like to use this week as an opportunity to gather and discuss how AI is affecting our work as educators.\n \nOur hope is that we can engage with a range of members of our JIBC community to talk about how AI is affecting our practices as educators while considering effective responses to this new technology.\n  \nYour AI Ideas\, One Note at a Time (Atrium Engagement)\nOctober 6th – October 10th\, 2025 | 12:00pm – 1:00pm | In-Person (NW Campus) \nGot thoughts about AI? We want to hear them! Throughout AI Week\, we’re inviting the JIBC community to stop by the atrium and add your voice to our interactive question wall. Grab a sticky note\, share your ideas\, post your questions\, or respond to prompts about generative AI. \n  \nNot sure what to write? Try reflecting on: \n\nWhat questions do you have about using GenAI?\nWhat tools (beyond ChatGPT) have you heard of or tried?\nHow are you (or aren’t you) using AI in your learning or work?\n\n  \nBy the end of the week\, we’ll collect the responses\, highlight common themes\, and share resources to keep the conversation going. This is a chance to make your voice part of how JIBC is exploring AI.\n \n \nRegister here!\n \n \nFor more information email facultydevelopment@jibc.ca.

SUMMARY:VR Experience: This is not a ceremony (June 18)
DESCRIPTION:THIS IS NOT A CEREMONY\nAHNAHKTSIPIITAA\n2022 | 20 min 56 s.\nCinematic VR Experience\nEnglish\, Blackfoot with English subtitles \n\n\nJune 18th\, 2024 | throughout the day | JIBC NW Campus CLTI office CL108\n \n Resident Elder Phillip Gladue will provide cultural support for participants.\n  \nRegistration is now full. Contact ctli@jibc.ca if you are interested in this VR experience but didn’t get a chance to sign up. \n  \nYou’re invited to witness an unforgettable cinematic VR experience\, guided with care and kindness by tricksters\, matriarchs and buffalo as you confront some of the darker sides of living life in Canada while Indigenous. \n\n\n\n \nTHIS IS NOT A CEREMONY (Trailer 01m09s) from NFB/marketing on Vimeo. \nNiitsitapi writer and director Ahnahktsipiitaa (Colin Van Loon) takes us beyond the veil of traditional media and transports us directly into another realm\, where past\, present and future are one; where colonial rules and assumptions are forgotten; and where we can finally get to the truth of the matter. \n\n  \nPresented in stunning cinematic VR\, the narrative unfolds all around us\, on a dream-like plane of existence. Panoramas flow and merge\, stories come to life and dance before our eyes\, and community protocols confront our notions of personal responsibility. Here\, we are asked to witness some of the darker sides of living life in Canada while Indigenous. \n  \nThis unforgettable experience will stay with you long after it’s over. THIS IS NOT A CEREMONY calls on all who’ve watched to take action\, to share what they have seen and heard\, to learn from these tragedies and never forget—so that they will never happen again. \n\n  \n\n  \nThe Meaning Behind the Visuals\n \nDownload the description of the visual elements for National Indigenous People’s Day (PDF\, 8.5″ x 11″)
