Immersive Experiential Learning with Praxis

Praxis transforms learning into action through immersive, real-time simulations that challenge participants to make critical decisions in realistic, high-stakes situations. By experiencing the consequences of their choices in a safe, risk-free environment, learners develop the practical skills, sound judgment, and confidence to navigate complexity, respond effectively under pressure, and perform when it matters most.

WHAT WERE THE MAIN GOALS OF THIS PROJECT?

Praxis bridges the gap between theory and practice through immersive, real-world simulations that challenge students to apply knowledge, make decisions, and solve problems. By practising, reflecting, and learning from their choices, students build critical skills, confidence, and readiness for professional success.

HOW DOES THIS DEMONSTRATE INNOVATION?

Praxis creates dynamic, hands-on learning experiences that make decision-making visible and measurable. Participants explore different approaches, observe the impact of their choices, and gain actionable insights to strengthen their judgment and inform future practice.

WHAT WERE THE PROBLEMS OR CHALLENGES YOU FACED WORKING ON THIS PROJECT?

The greatest challenge was creating a platform that is absolutely reliable and easy to use anywhere, without compromising the immersive and realistic experience that makes Praxis effective.

LESSONS LEARNED

The greatest lesson was that technology must be simple, reliable, and easy to use. Broad adoption depends on removing technological barriers so users can focus on learning, decision-making, and performance.

AUTHORING TOOL(S) USED

Praxis is the technology platform that powers these simulations. Originally developed by JIBC more than 10 years ago, it has been successfully used by JIBC program areas and external clients. Praxis has now been updated using current technologies to improve its capabilities, sustainability, and long-term relevance.
