Emergency Operations Centre Simulation

This pilot simulation provides an interactive and general overview of a typical day of Planning Section Chief in an Emergency Operations Centre, from initial deployment through to the end of the operational period. It is an early prototype designed to explore how digital simulations can enhance emergency management education and training.

WHAT WERE THE MAIN GOALS OF THIS PROJECT?

This pilot simulation provides an interactive and general overview of a typical day of Planning Section Chief in an Emergency Operations Centre, from initial deployment through to the end of the operational period. It is an early prototype designed to explore how digital simulations can enhance emergency management education and training.

The focus on the Planning Section Chief’s role, responsibilities, and types of activities throughout the operational period. This simulation is not a replacement of EOC courses and does not replicate every aspect of a real emergency. It is intended as a supplementary tool for review, practice, and potential facilitated debriefing.

HOW DOES THIS DEMONSTRATE INNOVATION?

It is an early prototype designed to explore how digital simulations can enhance emergency management education and training.

WHAT WERE THE PROBLEMS OR CHALLENGES YOU FACED WORKING ON THIS PROJECT?

Need for user testing, multiple iterations, feedback application.
