Get Ready for JIBC DemoFest

There is so much amazing work being done at JIBC incorporating educational technology so we’re hosting the first ever JIBC DemoFest!

DemoFest is a great opportunity to showcase your work, gain recognition, and get feedback from fellow faculty and staff. You might even win a JIBC DemoFest Award, based on the voting of your colleagues at the event.

Here’s what you need to know:

When: Tuesday November 12, 2013 , 11am – 1230pm

Where: JIBC New Westminster Campus, Main Floor – Event Kick-off will take place at 11am in the Theatre – come to collect your DemoFest Guide and voting tickets and see highlights of each project.

How it works:

  • Each project is assigned to one of the following categories:
    • Simulations
    • Mobile Learning
    • Open courses/materials
    • Emerging technologies
    • Blended learning
    • Video conferencing
    • Evaluation practices
  • Demonstrators will sit at breakout tables located throughout the atrium and adjoining hallways with their laptop or other device to display their work.
  • Attendees will have a map showing them where projects are located.
  • Attendees wander from table to table to see and discuss projects they are interested in.
  • Voting boxes will be available for attendees to drop their voting tickets into to recognize their favourite demonstrations.

There are two ways to participate:

Present

  • Gain recognition (you might even win a Best of JIBC DemoFest award)
  • Share your work to help the JIBC community learn from your efforts
  • Get valuable feedback from colleagues

Attend

  • Come see dozens of ed tech projects
  • Network with faculty and staff
  • Get some great ideas that you can apply to your work
  • Vote on your favourite projects

Participating in DemoFest is as easy as 1 2 3

1.  RSVP to the DemoFest Invite

2.  To apply to present, email telt@jibc.ca with the following information:

Program/Course

Authoring Tools Used (ie. Blackboard, Articulate, WordPress)

Why was this project needed?

Problems or Challenges Faced

Lessons Learned

Course URL  (If applicable)

Any other information you want to include?

Are you OK with your submission being featured on the public TELT Blog?

Attach a screenshot of your project

  • Your demonstrated project must be original content developed at JIBC.
  • Only one submission per person – you have to present after all! Got two projects? Have another presenter submit and present it.
  • Deadline for submissions is October 28th, 2013

3.  Notification of Acceptance:

We will review your project and send you an email within 5 – 7 business days to let you know if your submission has been accepted. If your submission does not meet the requirements, we will give you feedback and the opportunity to re-submit your project.
