SUPPORTING STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES – Introductory Workshop

This hands-on workshop is designed to help faculty and staff feel more informed and better prepared to assist students with disabilities in JIBC courses and programs.

By the end of this introductory workshop you will:

  • Develop an understanding of students with disabilities at JIBC
  • Identify some current approaches to creating welcoming and inclusive classrooms
  • Recognize the reason for providing accommodation for students with disabilities
  • Learn some practical tips and tools that you can use to improve inclusion and accessibility in your classroom for students with disabilities
  • Have completed part one of 5 lessons of the Supporting Students with Disabilities course

Why take the Supporting Students with Disabilities course:

  • Learn practical information and easy-to-use strategies to help you to better support the learning of students with disabilities in your classrooms and learning activities.
  • Create an inclusive class /campus and support all students in their learning and paths to success.

 

The SSWD course is broken up into five sections – the October 23rd introductory workshop plus 4 online lessons.
