Multimedia for Training

I will demonstrate the tools, techniques and strategies used when adding multimedia to training projects or courses. Including everything from live video to 3D simulations. I will also showcase different recording equipment, techniques and technologies we use at the JI. This includes our studio, cinema cameras, and drone as well as various software

AUTHORING TOOL(S) USED

Complete Adobe Creative Suite, Cinema 4D, 3D Software an Unity for VR/Metaverse

WHY WAS THIS PROJECT NEEDED?

Attention spans are dwindling. Multimedia allows you to compress complex information so that you can convey rich instructional content in a shortened timeframe. Also, because of its digital nature we can distribute this training to multiple platforms – phone, web, courses etc.

HOW DOES THIS DEMONSTRATE INNOVATION?

While each technology is at varying levels of maturity it is the mixing and matching of them that create the innovation. For example 3D models embedded in traditional video.

PROBLEMS OR CHALLENGES FACED?

These technologies are technically deep and diverse. They require extensive training and practice to master. They are also always evolving. If used incorrectly this technology can actually impede learning.

LESSONS LEARNED

Not every course requires the use of multimedia, however most courses benefit from varying levels of multimedia. A narrated passage, a short video to highlight a training technique, a 30 second simulation to demonstrate a new system or approach.
