Our last drop-in for 2020 will be on December 17th and we’ll be returning for the new year on January 14th.
In 2021 we will have a series of workshops on different topics related to teaching and learning online as well as some blackboard functionalities… especially the GRADE CENTRE. We will help you get a jump start on your courses by scheduling the first workshop in January.

Maintaining Momentum Toward Graduation: OER and the Course Throughput Rate

Open Educational Resources (OER) have the potential to replace traditional textbooks in higher education. Previous studies indicate that use of OER results in high student and faculty satisfaction, lower costs, and similar or better educational outcomes.
Research shows that students enrolled in face-to-face Z (Zero textbook cost) courses were almost 7% more likely to succeed than those who took non-Z courses. Read More

ACE-WIL Townhall: B.C. WIL COVID-19 Survey Results
Join us on December 1, when Julie Walchli and Camilo Peña from the UBC Planning and Institutional Research Office will share early results of the B.C. WIL Council Employer/Community Partner Survey that was distributed in September. With over 1,500 responses, this survey will shed light on COVID-19 impacts.

Join us for these interactive roundtable sessions showcasing practical ideas for creating conditions for well-being. Faculty and staff champions at SFU and UBC will share promising practices that enhance student well-being in their pedagogy, curriculum, and programs. Through themed virtual sessions, participants will have the opportunity to discuss and share their current approaches, as well as gain insight on how to embed practices that promote student well-being in their teaching and learning.

FLO MicroCourse – Acknowledging Traditional Indigenous Lands
Facilitating Learning Online (FLO) MicroCourses are short, single-topic, hands-on, practical, and free. In one week you will have an opportunity to dip into the FLO experience and leave with something practical and useful for your own teaching practice.
In this course, we explore the purpose, intent, and ways of acknowledging traditional Indigenous lands. A meaningful acknowledgment involves locating the self in who we are as human beings, i.e. our ethics, values, and beliefs about how we are connected with one another, and the places where we live and work.
