ETUG Webinar: Opening spaces: WordPress in Teaching and Learning

ETUG is hosting free monthly “lunch and learn” sessions via Elluminate (similar to the JIBC’s Adobe Connect tool), and the next one is scheduled for February 28.

Our next webinar is scheduled for Feb 28 12:00-1:00 pm PST on the topic: Opening spaces: WordPress in Teaching and Learning, facilitated by Lucas Wright and Emily Renoe, learning technologists, Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology, UBC.

In this session we will explore some of the potentials of the WordPress MU platform in teaching and learning in higher education. Lucas and Emily will share examples and lessons learned at University of British Columbia and facilitate discussion around how other institutions have used open blog platforms in teaching and learning.  In addition, participants will learn and discuss:

  • Ways that WordPress can be used to enhance collaboration, and interaction in teaching and learning
  • Lessons learned in the UBC context and takeaways for other institutions

Where do I attend one of these Lunch n’ Learns?

Bring your lunch, put on your headset and connect with your computer to the session via our ETUG Collaborate Meeting Room. Guest link: https://sas.elluminate.com/m.jnlp?sid=727&password=M.8BB0A08544A89B280F30DAB935B03D

The audio of the session will be recorded and shared.

WordPress is a great tool if you are an instructor looking for  a quick and easy way to share class notes, presentations, and even poll your students, to supplement your face to face classroom.  There are also some examples of instructors using it for their completely online classes.
