Professional Development Opportunity: Conference Attendance Invitation

Through the support of the BC Campus Open Education Sustainability grant, CTLI is offering opportunities to raise awareness of good practice related to open education, open pedagogy, open education resources, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL). If these are topics you would like to know more about, then this announcement is for you. We want to encourage staff and faculty to develop knowledge and understanding to contribute to ongoing improvement in our curriculum development and teaching practices.  We hope to encourage members of the JIBC community to attend professional development events outside the institute as a way increasing our collective knowledge in this area.

Therefore, we would like to encourage and support you in attending an upcoming online conference: UDLHE Digicon 2021: Guiding this Moment in Higher Education

  •  Date: Feb 4 & 5
  • Times: 9:00 AM-5:00 PM ET (6:00-200 PT)

CTLI will cover the registration cost for JIBC members who want to attend this online conference. In return, we ask that you share your learning experiences and discuss how we can take the lessons from the conference back to our own work here as public safety educators.

UDLHE Digicon is a two-day conference that focuses on the following themes:

  • Research
  • Direct application of UDL
  • Technology
  • Getting Started with UDL
  • Instructional Design
  • Asynchronous vs. synchronous teaching and learning
  • Fostering high quality learner techniques and strategies
  • Student experience
  • Equity & Justice

If you would like to know more about these topics and how they can influence our work at the JIBC, we invite you to contact us so that we can cover your registration fee. Please ensure that you will have time to devote to conference sessions. All sessions are delivered live but recordings will be made available to those who can’t attend.
