Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC) is devoting an afternoon to sharing, learning, and showcasing the impact of teaching and learning using Open Education Resources (OERs) and Open Education Practices.

Students in British Columbia are getting more affordable post-secondary education, and instructors are benefiting from high-quality, innovative teaching materials, because of the BC government’s $3.2 million investment in open education. Thanks to BCcampus for supporting and enabling access to Open Education Resources (OER) and for creating new opportunities for instructors to create, adopt, adapt, and customize resources for their teaching practices and subject areas.

The Faculty, Staff and Student event –Bridging Open Education and Faculty Development involves a series of presentations and conversations, highlighting the “whys, whats and hows” of open education. The event will showcase the excellent open education work and activities of local partners in BC post-secondary institutions and JIBC.

In addition, in the spirit of sharing and learning, JIBC faculty, staff and students will share teaching and learning experiences, approaches, practices, and technologies that support teaching and learning- face to face, hybrid and online. The evening event is not limited to OER, but is open to any type of experience that can help support faculty in the quest to provide engaging student experiences and result in student success.
