CTLI is the Teaching, Learning and Innovation Centre at the Justice Institute of British Columbia. CTLI adopts a flexible, team-based approach to program, course, resource, and faculty development for both internal JIBC programs and specialized contract or client interfacing training and education projects. Since most of our projects require the use of educational technology, CTLI has evolved into and is recognized as a highly knowledgeable innovator of educational technologies in support of teaching and learning.
Specifically, this expertise is centered around the following:
- Simulations and scenario-based learning including a JIBC developed simulation platform (Praxis)
- Mobile learning, especially for on-the-job training contexts
- Emerging technologies including Articulate 360, animation tools, social media, WordPress, AR/VR and 360 videos
- Video production including webcasting, podcasting, and live streaming

Praxis is an online, team-based learning system that focuses on decision-making simulations. It moves beyond traditional “click-through”, role playing, and tabletop exercises by providing an immersive environment that emphasizes collaboration, information sharing and immediate feedback, all of which lead to better training results.
